3. Synchronizing documents with a timebag step-by-step

Overview

This tutorial will walk you through steps in synchronizing with a timebag. When you're finished with this tutorial, you will learn how to synchronize with a timebag.

Synchronizing documents with a timebag

One day, our leading character, Andy, wants to synchronize documents with his mobile timebag between home and office.

Here're his steps.

  1. On his Linux desktop at home, Andy launches AOcell vSync and plugs in his USB Flash Drive.

    Right away, AOcell vSync finds his timebag as shown below:

    From the screenshot above, you can see that the working copy folder is "Andy's Documents/Product Documents".

  2. Andy already has a Microsoft Word document named "Support us.doc" in the working copy folder "Andy's Documents/Product Documents".

  3. Andy starts the synchronization by clicking the menu item "Timebag - Synchronize documents with the selected timebag now".

    Alternatively, you can start synchronization by clicking the shiny button "Synchronize documents with the selected timebag now" at the right of the main window.

  4. AOcell vSync asks for an optional comment for this commit. Andy types in a commit comment "Added the document 'Support us.doc'.".

    Andy clicks the button "Commit".

  5. Synchronization in progress.

  6. After seconds, the synchronization is complete.

    Andy plugs out his USB Flash Drive, and carries it on his way to work.

  7. Andy's at office. He launches AOcell vSync and plugs the USB Flash Drive into his Windows desktop.

    AOcell vSync finds his timebag as shown below:

  8. Andy starts the synchronization by clicking the menu item "Timebag - Synchronize documents with the selected timebag now".

  9. Synchronization in progress.
